About Day Tours Rome

Day Tours Rome (daytours.rome.it) is an independent editorial project about leaving Rome for a day and coming back: Pompeii, Tivoli, Florence, the Amalfi Coast, Orvieto, the Castelli Romani, the cruise port at Civitavecchia and the trains, buses and coaches that connect them. It is published in eight languages for visitors with a few nights in the city who want to spend one or two of them somewhere else.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator, a ticket office or a railway. We do not run coaches, employ guides or hold your booking. We are not the Parco Archeologico di Pompei, the Musei Vaticani, Villa d'Este, Trenitalia, Italo, Cotral, the Port of Civitavecchia or any of the companies reviewed on this site, and none of them has approved what we write. If you need to change a booking, only the platform or operator you paid can do it; see our contact page.

How a page is built

Every destination page answers, in order: how long the trip takes, how you get there, what it costs alone against a tour, what the day looks like hour by hour, who should pick which option, and what the official venue says about hours, prices and closures. The prices in the departures board and in the product cards come from live partner feeds, refreshed automatically when the site is rebuilt; the date of the last refresh is printed on each page. Official prices, opening hours and fares are read on the official websites, attributed by name, and logged in a verification file with the date they were checked. When we cannot verify a figure, we say so rather than guess.

Reviews of operators and booking platforms are written from what is publicly verifiable: the company's own site, its published terms, the products it lists on the platforms we track. We do not invent ratings, review counts, founding dates or fleet sizes, and we say plainly when a business publishes none of them.

How we earn

The site is free to read and carries no display advertising. When you click a product card, a "check" button or a partner link and then book on GetYourGuide, Tiqets or Headout, we may receive a commission from that platform. The price you pay is the platform's own price; it is not increased to cover our commission, and we do not see your booking details. Partner links are marked as sponsored in the page code and open in a new tab. Commission does not decide what we recommend: where the train is cheaper than the tour, the page says so.

Editorial rules

  • No page is tied to a year. Prices and hours are described as "checked regularly" and each page shows its own updated date, so you can judge how fresh it is.
  • Every official fact carries its source, and every figure we could not confirm is flagged for an editor rather than published as certain.
  • Temporary situations (a closed wing, a suspended train) are described as current until further notice, without dates that go stale.
  • Partner prices are per person unless the product is priced per vehicle or per group, in which case the page says so.
  • Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under open licences, with the author and licence credited under each image and listed on the photo credits page.

Corrections and contact

Prices change, lines get suspended and museums move their closing day. If you find something wrong, write to travel@daytours.rome.it with the page address; corrections are checked against the official source and applied to every language. The same address handles press enquiries. Our terms of use and privacy policy set out the legal side of using the site.
