The short answer
Headout is the third partner on this site and the one you will use least often, which is exactly why this Headout review exists: to say when it is worth opening. Its Rome day-trip shelf is short, 13 products in our catalogue against 94 on GetYourGuide, but several of them are the same coaches sold by the same Roman operators, so Headout gives you a second price to check. On Castel Gandolfo it is equal-cheapest, on the Pompeii with Amalfi Coast format it is within €5 of GetYourGuide, and it is the only partner selling a Villa d'Este ticket on its own. Prices are checked regularly.
The catch is policy, not price. Roughly four in ten Headout products in our catalogue are non-refundable, and the platform's own help centre describes a "strict" policy with no cancellation or rescheduling. Read the line before you pay.
What Headout actually is
The site footer names Headout Inc. at 82 Nassau Street, New York, and its about page says the company is "built for the world, from India", with nine offices listed as Bengaluru, Paris, London, Singapore, New York, Dubai, Berlin, Rome and Barcelona. The same page names Varun Khona as chief executive and gives company figures of more than 55 million guests served, customers from 196 countries and experiences offered in 14 languages. Its founding year is not stated on the about page; the footer's copyright line starts at 2014.
Headout describes itself as a marketplace and promises "100% booking protection": if something is off it will fix it or refund you. As with the other platforms, the tour itself is run by a local operator, and the exact meeting point is on your voucher, not on the search page.

Booking works like the other platforms: choose a date and option, pay, and the voucher arrives by email and in the app. Headout's help centre says most experiences accept the mobile voucher and marks them with a mobile-ticket icon; if the icon is missing, a printed copy is needed. Some listings carry several tour options behind one "from" price, so check which option the price applies to before you compare it with another site.
Cancellation, languages and support
Headout's help centre states that the policy "depends on the one you book": a flexible policy refunds in full if you cancel 24 to 72 hours before the start, a strict policy allows no cancellation, amendment or rescheduling, and the exact rule sits under "Cancellation Policy" on each experience page. In our catalogue 17 of the 31 Headout products allow cancellation up to 24 hours before, one allows 48 hours and 13 allow none; the non-refundable ones are mostly ticket products, including the Villa d'Este ticket and the Tivoli transfer.
The site runs in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch. Support is by email and by phone lines listed for the US, UK, Spain, Australia, the Emirates, Singapore, Germany and Italy.

What reviewers praise and complain about
Trustpilot showed 4.4 from 63,210 reviews at the time of checking, with a paid Trustpilot subscription noted on the profile. Reviewers praise friendly guides and support staff and a fast, smooth booking flow; the topic marked as mixed is the booking process itself, where experiences vary between products. The review base is global and reflects Headout's catalogue: its strength is tickets to attractions and shows, and the Rome day trips are a small corner of it.
How it compares with the alternatives
Where Headout sells the same coach as GetYourGuide, the gap runs from nil on Tuscany to €40–50 in GetYourGuide's favour on the Tivoli transfer and the Pompeii coach; where it sells the same ticket as Tiqets, the two are level. The Pompeii and Amalfi Coast group shows how close it can get on a coach day:

On Tivoli the picture is split: the Tivoli transfer with tickets is €100 here against €60 on GetYourGuide, and the ticket-only Villa d'Este product exists only on Headout. Read that listing carefully before buying: it costs €81.25, while the full Villa d'Este ticket on the official villae ticketing site is €15, so unless the listing includes something beyond entry it is not a ticket you need a platform for. On Tuscany the two partners are both €99, so read the inclusions. On the Pompeii coach GetYourGuide wins outright. Booking direct with the operator, such as I Love Rome or Green Line Tours, does not usually undercut either platform.
Verdict
Open Headout after GetYourGuide, not instead of it. Use it when the compare day trips table shows it level or cheaper, which at the time of checking meant Castel Gandolfo tickets for a Castelli Romani day, the Tuscany coach and the Pompeii with Amalfi Coast day; skip the Villa d'Este ticket-only listing unless it includes more than entry, because the official ticket is €15; and use it whenever GetYourGuide has sold out a date, because the same operator often has seats listed here. Then check the cancellation line, because on Headout "strict" means exactly that.
