What rometours.it actually is
The client sheet lists this as a Google Maps entry for a personal guide named Tommaso. The site behind it, rometours.it, is fuller than that: it trades as "Rome Tours with Tommaso and his Team" and sells private guided tours of the city plus private day trips out of Rome, each with a named "starting at" price per person. The home page claims more than 10,000 guests, more than 50 licensed guides and drivers, more than 15 years of private tours and shore excursions, and a start date of 2009. Those are the company's own figures; we could not check them against a register because the site does not name the company, print an address or show a VAT number.
The site's terms describe a Rome-based operation under Italian law and mention FareHarbor as a third-party booking platform for some tours. There is a Tripadvisor listing under "Rome Tours by Tommaso", linked from the site. That is the extent of what is verifiable from the outside.
What it sells from Rome and how you book
The city tours are the usual private set: Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, Colosseum and Forum, a full "Rome in one day", the squares and fountains, Trastevere, with kid-focused versions. The day trips, all private, all with hotel pick-up in a car or van, are the reason the brand appears on this site:
| Day trip (rometours.it, 'starting at', per person) | Price | Stated duration |
|---|---|---|
| Pompeii with a licensed guide and tickets | €215 | 2.5 h on site (half day) or 5 h (full day) |
| Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius | €145 | 7 h, customisable |
| Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast (Positano, Sorrento) | €245 | 7 h |
| Herculaneum and Oplontis | €139 | 7 h, customisable |
| Naples city highlights | €144 | 7 h, customisable |
| Capri and the Blue Grotto | €149 | 7 h, customisable |
| Pisa and Florence | €174 | 7 h, customisable |
Two cautions on reading that table. The "7 hours" on the Amalfi page cannot be the door-to-door time: Rome to Pompeii is about 2 h 30 by road each way before you add the coast, so plan on 12 hours and ask them to confirm the return time. And "starting at" is doing work: the terms state that published prices are indicative and vary with group size and season, so the per-person figure will be higher for two than for six. Get a firm total for your party in writing.
Inclusions on the Pompeii pages are clear: private transfer with driver, a certified local guide inside Pompeii, entry tickets; tips and food are extra. Tour languages are listed as English, Italian, Spanish, French and German. Booking is by request form (name, date, participants, private or small-group, start time), by WhatsApp, or through FareHarbor where offered. No cancellation or deposit policy is published.

What it costs against the platform
Prices checked regularly. The comparison is per person, so multiply the platform's per-group products by your party size.
- Pompeii alone. €215 a head against the coach day trip at €56 with a guide inside the site, or the hotel-pickup version at €96.85. You are paying roughly four times the coach for a private car and a guide to yourselves. For two people that is €430; sensible if you want the pace to be yours, hard to justify if you do not.
- Pompeii and Amalfi. €245 per person; for four people, €980. The private Pompeii and Amalfi tour on GetYourGuide is €1,450 per group for 12 hours. Rome Tours is cheaper for a party of four or fewer, on paper, once the "starting at" figure is confirmed. See the Amalfi Coast day trip page for the coach alternative at a fraction of either.
- Pisa and Florence. €174 per person is not far from the Florence and Pisa coach day at €103.35, and in that case the train is the better private option anyway: Frecciarossa Roma Termini–Firenze SMN in about 1 h 30, dynamic fares, no driver needed. Our trains from Rome guide has the bands.

The checklist before you pay
- Ask which company invoices the tour and for its VAT number; the brand name alone is not a contracting party.
- Confirm the total for your exact party size and date, not the "starting at" figure.
- Ask for the guide's licence: the person guiding you inside Pompeii should be a licensed tourist guide, which is a different qualification from the driver's.
- Get the pick-up time, the return time and the cancellation window in writing. FareHarbor bookings show the policy at checkout; request-form bookings do not.
- Pay by card, ideally through the checkout rather than a transfer.
Verdict
Rome Tours with Tommaso is a private-guide brand with unusually clear per-person pricing for its category, a sensible product list and the right inclusions on its Pompeii days. Its weakness is identity: no company name, address or terms of sale where a traveller can read them. For a couple who want a guide to themselves at Pompeii and are happy to confirm the details by WhatsApp, it is a reasonable direct booking; for anyone who wants a refund rule printed before paying, the equivalent private products on GetYourGuide exist and cost the same order of money.
