Turtle Tour Rome (listed on maps as Turtle Tours) sells private golf cart tours of the centre, the Appian Way and Rome by night, plus walking and food formats, and it is the only golf cart company we reviewed that publishes a complete per-party price table. It suits groups of four or more who want one licensed guide, no strangers in the cart and every rule spelled out before paying. Price level is high: €346.23 for the 3-hour Rome Highlights cart for two, €629.51 for six, against €42 to €75 per vehicle for the private carts on GetYourGuide (prices checked regularly).
What Turtle Tour Rome actually is
The about page of turtletourrome.com gives the legal entity as Turtle Tour S.r.l. with an address in Rome, a VAT number, an A/B travel agency licence number issued by the Città Metropolitana di Roma Capitale, and the number of its Unipol liability policy. The company describes its guides as licensed locals or long-resident expats, with tours in English and Italian and Russian, German, Spanish and French on request. Contact is by email, phone and WhatsApp; the site is available in English, French, Spanish, German and Russian versions.
There is no fleet size published and no claim about years in business, which we prefer to a round number nobody can check. Everything that follows is from the company's own pages.
What it sells and how you book
All tours are private. You book on the site, pay in full online at the time of booking (the FAQ rules out cash and deposits), and the price is per party by head count, from two to eleven people:
| Tour | Length | 2 people | 4 people | 6 people |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rome Highlights (09:30 and 15:30) | 3 h, 20 km | €346.23 | €453.24 | €629.51 |
| Secret Rome (09:30 and 15:30) | 3 h, 20 km | €356.72 | €482.62 | €660.99 |
| Rome by night (20:00) | 2 h, 16 km | €314.75 | €419.67 | €566.56 |
| Short tour (15:00 and 17:00) | 1.5 h, 8 km | €251.80 | €335.74 | €472.13 |
| Private Appian Way (Tue–Fri 09:00) | 5 h, 15 km | €650.49 | €944.26 | €1,353.44 |
| Golf cart and Colosseum tour | 4 h, 18 km | €744.92 | €1,007.21 | €1,384.92 |
Figures are those shown on the pricing page when we checked. Four people cannot squeeze into a three-seater: the FAQ says a party of four needs a five-seater cart, children never sit on laps, and larger groups travel in two or three carts that stay together.
The Rome Highlights loop passes the Colosseum, Circus Maximus, Palatine and Forum from outside, the Forum Boarium and Mouth of Truth, Theatre of Marcellus, Piazza Venezia, Trevi (with a gelato at Navona), the Pantheon, Castel Sant'Angelo and the Vatican from outside. The terms define every cart booking as a package that also includes a snack and visits to the Pantheon, Sant'Ignazio and San Pietro in Vincoli, which you may skip without a price change.

What the platforms charge for the same format
We could not match any GetYourGuide golf cart listing to Turtle Tour, so the platform products are competitors, not this company. They are priced per vehicle, and the gap is large:

A private 1.5-hour cart with a local driver on GetYourGuide is €75 per vehicle; Turtle's 1.5-hour short tour is €251.80 for two. The Appian Way with catacombs entry is €93.51 per person on GetYourGuide in a small group; Turtle's private Appian day is €650.49 for two and does not include attraction tickets by default. What Turtle sells for the difference is a fully private, licensed-guide format with hotel pick-up, published rules and, according to the terms, a snack and three church visits inside the package.
The practical detail
Pick-up. Included only inside the historic centre: the FAQ names postcodes 00184, 00186 and 00187 as always qualifying, adds Trastevere and Testaccio, excludes Prati and lists many large hotels outside the centre that are not served. Pick-up time equals the tour start time. No airport or cruise port pick-up; the company will point you to a taxi.
Cancellation. Full refund at 48 hours or more; nothing inside 48 hours, no rescheduling either. Tours run in rain with ponchos supplied and are moved or refunded only in severe weather. This is stricter than the 24-hour window on most platform listings, so book it only when your date is fixed.
Accessibility. Foldable wheelchairs and walkers can be carried in the cart; car seats and boosters are provided on request.
Tickets. Entry to the Colosseum, Capitoline Museums or catacombs is included only on the combo tours that name it; on the standard loops the Pantheon is described as entry ticket not included on one page and as a package visit on the terms page, so ask.
Pets. Allowed if you say so in advance.
Booking direct or on a platform
Book Turtle direct if you are a party of four or more, you want one guide for the whole group and you can commit to the date 48 hours out. The per-head pricing means six people pay about €105 each for three hours, which is close to the GetYourGuide per-person shared formats with a guide. Book the golf cart tours on GetYourGuide when you are two people, want free cancellation or want a fixed per-vehicle price under €100.
Verdict
Turtle Tour Rome does the one thing we ask of every local seller: it tells you exactly what you get, what it costs for your exact head count and what happens if you cancel. The price is the objection. For two people it is three to four times the platform rate for a private cart; for six it becomes reasonable. Compare with Rome in Golf Cart, which has lower "from" prices but does not publish the price basis, and with the platform products on the golf cart page before you decide.
