The short answer
Tiqets is a ticket platform, not a tour marketplace, and this Tiqets review is written with that in mind. Its strength on a Rome trip is the city: instant mobile tickets for the Vatican Museums, the Colosseum, the Borghese Gallery and the airport train, all delivered to your phone within minutes. Outside Rome it matters for a short list of things: the Papal Palace at Castel Gandolfo, the Ostia Antica entry ticket, the Civitavecchia train and a Tivoli entry-plus-transfer format. Prices are checked regularly.
For the classic coach day trips it is usually the wrong place: the same Tivoli coach costs €30 more than on GetYourGuide and the Pompeii coach €63 more, and most Tiqets tickets are non-refundable. Book the venue tickets here and the coach elsewhere.
What Tiqets actually is
The website operator is Tiqets International BV, James Wattstraat 77-P, Amsterdam, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 59620285, according to the legal section of its about page. The same page dates the founding to 2014, names Laurens Leurink as chief executive and Luuc Elzinga as founder and president, and quotes company figures of more than 4,000 venue partners, 50 million customers and 3.9 million app downloads.
Its terms describe the role plainly: Tiqets "acts as an intermediary of the supplier". When you book, the request goes to the venue or operator, and once accepted the agreement is between you and that supplier. Tiqets keeps you informed by email and text, and if the supplier cannot deliver the ticket within 48 hours the order is refunded in full. That model suits museums with a fixed door price; it suits a twelve-hour coach day less well, because the operator is one step further away when something changes.
What it sells from Rome and how the booking works
In our catalogue Tiqets has 66 Rome products, 22 of them outside the city. The out-of-town list splits into two groups. First, venue tickets and short formats where Tiqets is competitive or alone:
| Product | Price | Rating | Cancellation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Castel Gandolfo Papal Palace and gardens | €16 | ★4.4 (529) | non-refundable |
| Castel Gandolfo gardens minibus tour | €30 | ★4.0 (86) | non-refundable |
| Ostia Antica entry ticket | €18 | ★4.4 (131) | non-refundable |
| Civitavecchia–Rome train ticket | €5.10 | ★3.7 (9) | non-refundable |
| Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana entry with return transfer | €118.80 | ★4.7 (14) | up to 24 h before |
Second, coach days resold from Roman operators: Pompeii and Vesuvius at €119, Pompeii with Amalfi and Sorrento at €99, the Tivoli villas at €95, Florence and Pisa at €159, and Orvieto with Civita di Bagnoregio at €99, which is the one product where Tiqets sits within a few euros of GetYourGuide. The Orvieto day is also among the best-rated Tiqets day trips in our catalogue, at ★4.9 from 16 reviews.
Booking is the simplest of the three partners: choose a date (and a time slot where the venue requires one), pay, and the ticket arrives as a QR code in the app and by email. Every Tiqets product in our catalogue is flagged as a smartphone ticket and all but one as instant delivery. The app stores tickets offline, so a weak signal at a gate is not a problem. Nominative tickets such as the Colosseum need each visitor's name at checkout.
Cancellation, languages and support
This is where you read carefully. Tiqets' terms say cancellation "is only possible if we mention this in the product description", and that the platform cannot guarantee a refund if you booked the wrong date. In our catalogue, 36 of the 66 Tiqets products cannot be cancelled at all; 22 allow it up to 24 hours before the date or time slot, and two allow 48 hours. Refund requests can be made up to 28 days after the date the ticket was valid for, which is useful when a venue closes unexpectedly.
The site runs in 17 languages, including all eight of this guide. Guided products state the guide language per listing; the Rome day trips in our catalogue list English guides, and a few also Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese. Support is through the help centre and email; Trustpilot notes the company was not recently inviting reviews, so its score reflects unprompted feedback.

What reviewers praise and complain about
Trustpilot showed 4.3 from 60,910 reviews at the time of checking. The praise is about speed and queues: tickets arrive at once and the QR code works at the gate. The complaints that recur are about money rather than the visit: a final card charge higher than the listed price (read the total at checkout before paying) and no refund on a date mistake. Neither is unique to Tiqets, but the non-refundable default makes the second one sting more.
How it compares with the alternatives
On tickets Tiqets is often the best of the partners. The Castel Gandolfo palace entry is €16 on Tiqets and Headout against €20 on GetYourGuide; for reference, the Vatican Museums' own ticketing lists the Papal Palace and Secret Garden ticket at €12, so the platforms are selling convenience, not a discount:
Same trip, platforms compared
Prices refreshed from the GetYourGuide, Tiqets and Headout feeds.
| Platform | Price | Rating | Duration | Cancellation | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TiqetsPapal Palace & Secret Gardens at Castel Gandolfo | €16 Lowest price | ★ 4.4 (538) | — | — | Book on Tiqets |
| HeadoutCastel Gandolfo Palace & Secret Garden Tickets | €16 | ★ 4.4 (1,206) | 1 h 30 min | — | Book on Headout |

| GetYourGuideCastel Gandolfo: Papal Apartments and Secret Garden Ticket | €26 | ★ 4.2 (314) | 2 h | Free cancellation | Book on GetYourGuide |
On coach days it is not. The Tivoli villas tour is €95 here and €65 on GetYourGuide; the Pompeii coach is more than double. For the Civitavecchia train, Tiqets is the only partner selling the ticket; compare it with the Trenitalia regional fare on our Civitavecchia Express page before you buy, because the station fare and the pre-bought ticket are not the same product. For the city passes compared on the passes page, Tiqets and Headout are within €2 of each other.
Verdict
Use Tiqets for venue tickets: the Castel Gandolfo palace and gardens on a Castelli Romani day, the Ostia Antica entry, the Vatican and Colosseum on your city days, and the Leonardo Express when you want the airport train paid before landing. For a Pompeii, Tivoli or Florence coach, compare the same product on the compare day trips page first; you will nearly always pay less on GetYourGuide and keep a cancellation window. Whatever you book here, read the cancellation line: on Tiqets, "non-refundable" is the default, not the exception.
