Tours of Pompeii with Lello is a guide-first business: an archaeologist, three colleagues and a network of licensed guides selling mostly private tours of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius and the coast, with the option of a car from your Rome hotel and back. It suits families and small groups who want the site explained properly and are willing to pay per person for that. Price level: from €89 per person for two hours inside Pompeii, from €135 per person for the full private day from Rome.
What it actually is
The company has a full website at toursofpompeii.com, and the terms page is unusually explicit. The trading entity is Raphael Tours and Events SRL, Via Boezio 4/c, 00192 Rome, with an Italian VAT number and "Licensed Tour Operator License N. 67846". That is a Rome address in Prati, not Pompeii: the office is in the capital, the guiding happens in Campania. The about page names Lello, an archaeologist, with Roberta, Loretta and Rossana, and describes every guide as licensed. The home page shows two review badges, 2,682 reviews at 5.0 and 214 at 4.8, without naming the platforms in the text; we did not verify those counts.
The format is private by default. The site says so directly: tours are not shared with other guests unless you pick a small-group option, and itineraries are adjusted on request, including a kid-friendly version and an accessible version for wheelchair users.
What it sells from Rome and how you book
The catalogue is priced per person in euros, with hotel pickup included where stated. The products that matter for a Rome-based visitor, at the prices shown on the site when we checked:

| Rome to Pompeii and Capua private day trip with hotel pickup | 7–8 h | €165 per person |

The Rome day includes hotel pickup and drop-off in Rome, the guide and fast-access entrance tickets; lunch is an optional stop, and Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Sorrento, Positano or a wine tasting can be added. The meeting point "may vary according to the season and customer requirements" and is confirmed before booking. Booking is online, by email or by phone; the site promises an email reply within one business day and takes full payment at booking. Its products are not in our partner feed, so the comparison below shows the platform formats that compete with it; those prices are checked regularly.

The practical detail
Per person, not per vehicle. Unlike the driver services on our private day trips page, which are priced per car, Lello's prices are per person with a "from" figure that depends on group size. Ask for the total for your party in writing before you pay; the €135 headline will not be the price for a couple.
Cancellation. Free up to 7 days before, 50% back up to 48 hours before, nothing inside 48 hours, unless your confirmation states otherwise. That is stricter than the 24-hour windows on the platforms, so book once your dates are fixed.
Guides and languages. English is the default; Italian, Spanish and French on most tours with notice. Guides are described as fully licensed, which is the credential you should ask any private guide for at Pompeii.
Accessibility. The Rome day trip is flagged as accessible for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues, one of the few Pompeii-from-Rome products that says so.

Lello vs a coach vs the train
A coach day from Rome costs €56–€105 per person and gives you a shared licensed guide for about two hours inside the site. Lello's Rome day starts at €135 per person and gives you a private car, a private guide and your own pace, which for a family of four is a €540 decision against about €225 on the cheapest coach; the hotel-pickup coach day is the closest shared equivalent at €96.85.
The cheaper way to get the same guide is the train, with a Naples pizza on the way back if time allows: Frecciarossa to Napoli Centrale, Circumvesuviana to Pompei Scavi, then the 2-hour site tour from €89. That is a longer day and three connections, but it puts an archaeologist in front of you for less than the price of the door-to-door version. Guided train days on GetYourGuide, such as the Pompeii Express, sit in between.
Verdict
A properly documented small operator with a licence number, a Rome office and a clear private-tour proposition. Pay for it when the guide is the point of the day and the group is yours; take the coach or the train when the budget is per person and tight. See the operators hub for how it compares with premium brands such as Walks of Italy and with coach companies such as City Wonders; for a driver on the coast side, read our Amalfi Coast Day Tours review.
