What Walks of Italy is
Walks of Italy is the Italian arm of the Walks brand, which also runs Devour food tours and sells city tours in Paris, London, Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon from a sister site. The company says it started with Colosseum tours in Rome and has been operating since 2008; its footer gives a Rome address on Viale Giuseppe Mazzini, and its terms name a US company in Orlando, Florida. It is a tour brand with its own guides and tour leaders, not a reseller; it sells direct, and the review feed on its product pages includes Tripadvisor customers, so the same tours are resold there.
For a day-tripper from Rome the catalogue is short. There is exactly one day trip: Amalfi Coast & Pompeii Day Trip from Rome. Everything else in the Rome list is a city tour, plus two newer two-day trips (Rome to the Amalfi Coast with a night in Sorrento, and Rome to Florence and Tuscany with a night in Florence). No Tivoli, no Ostia, no Orvieto. If you want those, see our LivTours review or Through Eternity.
The day trip, in numbers
| Item | What the site publishes |
|---|---|
| Price | €199 per person (euro pricing; the USD default shows a higher figure) |
| Length | About 13 hours; departures listed at 06:15, 06:30 or 07:15 depending on date |
| Group | Max 18 in a private minibus |
| Guides | English-speaking tour leader all day; separate archaeologist guide inside Pompeii |
| Included | Pompeii entry, guided walk in Pompeii, air-conditioned transport |
| Not included | Lunch, tips, hotel pickup |
| Coast stop | Positano (roughly two free hours) April–October; Sorrento November–March |
Two details matter more than the headline price. First, Pompeii tickets are nominative: you give every traveller's full name at booking, it must match their ID, and name changes are not allowed. Bring the passport or ID card on the day. Second, the itinerary can run in reverse (coast first, Pompeii in the afternoon), so do not plan around a specific Pompeii slot.

What premium buys you here
Against the GetYourGuide coach combo at €84, you pay about €115 more per person. What you get for it: an 18-seat minibus instead of a full coach (which also means no vehicle swap on the coast road), a tour leader who stays with the group all day plus a specialist archaeologist for the ruins, and a Pompeii walk the site describes as more in-depth than the big-coach version. What you do not get: lunch, a hotel pickup, or the Vesuvius option that some coach tours sell as an add-on. For a vehicle to yourselves, the private day trips page lists per-vehicle prices.
Reviews on the product page mention traffic eating into Pompeii time on bad days. That is the Naples ring road, not the operator, and it hits every tour equally; an early departure is the only defence, which is why the 06:15 slot exists.

Booking, meeting point and cancellation
You book on the site in euros, US, Canadian or Australian dollars, or pounds. The meeting point is Piazzale Flaminio, outside the Piazza del Popolo gate and next to the Metro A Flaminio stop. The exact spot and time are on your voucher; a coordinator with a Walks sign is there 15 minutes before departure and the group leaves on time.
The standard policy is a full refund or travel credit if you cancel more than 24 hours before the tour. Tours that enter the Colosseum need seven days' notice because of the park's own ticketing, and private or ten-plus bookings also need seven days. Late arrivals and no-shows are not refunded, and the policy explicitly covers train or flight delays, so book a hotel night in Rome before the trip rather than arriving that morning. Tours are in English only.
The two-day upgrades
Both overnight trips cost €1,190 per person and cap the group at 10. The Amalfi version adds a winery lunch on Vesuvius, a sunset boat from Positano, a night in Sorrento and a ferry to Salerno for the drive home; the Florence one adds Siena, a Chianti lunch, a night in Florence and San Gimignano. They are for people who have already decided a single day on the coast is too short; our multi-day trips page compares them with doing the same thing on trains and a hotel you book yourself.
How it compares with a platform booking or the train
GetYourGuide has small-group Pompeii–Amalfi days too: a car-or-van version at €127 and a small-group version at €200, both with ratings you can read before booking. Walks is priced between them and sells only on its own site, so you are trusting its own review feed rather than a platform's. On the other side, the DIY day (Frecciarossa to Naples, Circumvesuviana to Pompei Scavi, ticket at the gate) costs far less but gives you Pompeii alone; the coast is not realistic by train in the same day. See the maths on our Pompeii and Amalfi Coast pages.
Verdict
Walks of Italy is the safe premium choice for the one thing it sells from Rome. The price is published in euros, the inclusions are clear, the group size is a real cap, and the cancellation terms are as fair as any in this market. Pay for it if the archaeologist matters to you; take the coach if the view matters more. Prices checked regularly.
