"Amalfi Coast Day Tours" is a description as much as a name, and several businesses use it. The one with a website, amalficoastdaytours.com, is a Naples family firm running private Mercedes-van days with an English-speaking driver-guide, one shared coast tour and station and port transfers. It suits a group of four to eight who take the train to Naples and want the coast road done by someone else. From Rome it is a second leg, not a day trip: there is no Rome pickup. Price level: on request, per vehicle.
What it actually is
The about page describes a family company founded in Pompeii in 2007 that "mainly operates in the area of Naples and Rome" with Mercedes vehicles and English-speaking driver-guides; the contact page gives a Naples postcode, 80133, and a mobile number. The vehicles page describes vans seating eight passengers plus the driver. There is no company name, VAT number or NCC (car-with-driver) licence number anywhere on the site, and the copyright line simply repeats the trading name. That is the first thing to ask for before you pay.
The site's own advice to Rome visitors is clear: take the Frecciarossa from Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale, where the driver waits at the end of the platform holding a name board, and be dropped back at the station in time for the train home. So this is a partner for a train-based Amalfi day built around the Roma–Napoli high-speed line, not a substitute for the coach days that leave Rome at 07:00.
What it sells and how you book
The catalogue is a list of 8-hour private itineraries plus one shared day:
| Product | Format | Timings on the site |
|---|---|---|
| Amalfi Coast shared tour | Per person, 09:00 from a hotel near Napoli Centrale | ~1 h Ravello, 1 h Amalfi, 1 h 30 Positano |
| Pompeii, Amalfi, Positano and Ravello | Private, per vehicle | 2 h Pompeii, 30 min Ravello, 1 h Amalfi, 1 h Positano |
| Pompeii, Vesuvius and Sorrento | Private, per vehicle | 2 h Pompeii, 1 h 30 Vesuvius, 1 h 30 Sorrento |
| Amalfi Coast private boat tour | Private, 25% deposit | 8 h |
| Transfers (ports, airports, stations, hotels) | Per vehicle, optional stops | on request |
No prices are shown; you request a quote and confirm on the site's form. Private days start at 07:00, 08:00, 09:00 or 10:00. Included: the vehicle, driver-guide, tolls, parking and fuel. Not included: entrance fees, lunch, a licensed site guide inside Pompeii (the FAQ recommends adding one; see our Tours of Pompeii with Lello review for that format), and tips, for which the site suggests 10%. Our partner feed has no products from this company, so the cards below are the Rome-departure alternatives, with prices checked regularly.

The practical detail
Payment. The terms allow cash to the driver at the end of the service, or card, bank transfer or PayPal deposit in advance; filling in the form with card details makes the booking binding. Prefer a card payment you can dispute over cash or a transfer.
Cancellation. Car services: written notice at least 24 hours before means no charge; inside 24 hours or no-show, the full amount. Car services run in bad weather. Capri days depend on the jetfoil, and if it cannot sail you can switch tours or cancel without charge. Boat tours take a 25% deposit with separate conditions.
Hours. Private tours cover up to 8–9 hours; every extra hour is €50. A Naples pickup at 09:00 and a 17:00 return fits a Rome day if you take the 07:00–07:30 Frecciarossa down and a 18:00–19:00 train back; fares are dynamic, so book the train weeks ahead.
Pompeii tickets. The FAQ says entrance fees are not included and quotes €18 per person, but that figure is out of date: the full Pompeii ticket is €25 and the Express ticket €20 according to pompeiisites.org at the time of checking. Confirm with the company which version of the inclusion applies to your quote.

Driver from Naples vs coach from Rome vs private from Rome
For two people the Amalfi and Positano coach day from Rome at €81 per person is hard to beat, even with 11 hours on the road. For four to eight people the maths flips: a train to Naples (from about €20 booked ahead to €60+ on the day, each way) plus a per-vehicle van day can cost less per head than a private car from Rome, which starts at €1,450 per group for Pompeii and the coast, and you avoid the six hours of motorway. The train-and-boat day on GetYourGuide is the fully organised version of the same idea for smaller parties.
The trade-off is verification. Platform products come with a named provider, a printed cancellation window and card payment; here you rely on a quote, a phone number and the company's own terms. Our private day trips page sets out the NCC checklist in full, and our Cab Shuttle Taxi and LUXURBE reviews cover the Rome-based drivers.
Verdict
A plausible Naples driver-guide company with clear terms and a sensible train-plus-van model for Rome visitors, let down by the absence of a company name and licence number on its site and by a name that other sellers share. Get the legal name, the NCC licence and a per-vehicle quote in writing, pay by card, and it can be the right choice for a group. For couples, book the coach or the train-and-boat day on GetYourGuide instead; the operators hub shows who runs each.
